Some bits of news for you
Posted on Thursday, January 5th, 2012
It’s going to be a rather eventful year for me, I think.
I’ve just heard that King’s Man is being published in the USA on 13 November 2012 – which seems like a long way in the future but I expect the time will pass quickly. Back in good old Blighty, King’s Man is coming out in paperback in July and the same month Warlord will be published in hardback. So three of my books are coming out in English in a year.
Added to that, the German version of Holy Warrior is due to come out in March 2012, and the Spanish version of King’s Man will also be published in that month.
In other domestic news, my wife is expecting our second child in mid-February.
That’s all for now. I’ll post more updates as I get them.
I am so joyful for you, Angus. You’re one of my favourite writers and it’s gonna be a felicitous year for you. So happy that so many of your books are coming out soon. I hope they sell in Germany and Spain as well as in Britain or even better :)
Why do your books are released so late in USA in comparison to UK? On what or who does it depend? I ask because it interests me much. It is over a year for King’s Man to be published in USA since its release in UK.
And of course, best wishes to all readers of this blog.
Regards,
E.
Hi Evelyn,
Thank you! I hope all is well with you in Poland.
The reason my books come out at a different time in the USA is that I have a different publisher for the States (St Martin’s Griffin). It’s all very complicated; basically, StMG buy the books from my UK publisher (Little,Brown) and sell them under their own banner, but I get a very small cut of their sales too. Thank goodness I don’t have to deal with all the business side of things – I leave that to my excellent agent and brilliant UK publisher – which means I can get on with my job: writing more Robin Hood stories. Hope that makes it a bit clearer.
All the best, Angus
So, Angus, that must mean that it is better for you if I buy your books from the UK, right?
Becoming a daddy again? And pretty soon, no less! Do you know if the new addition will be a boy or a girl? How exciting for you!!! Hope all goes well and the both of you have a healthy, happy baby and your wife has an easy go of it. Congratulations “DAD”!
Best wishes of course,
Jeanne
Congratulations Angus! Hope the birth goes well, keep us posted. Best of luck with cracking the German market. I’ll do some more Twitter promotion soon as well.
Take care,
Alex
Hi Angus… congratulations on your mid-February “second addition” (Poor author humour) and best wishes to you and your whole family for the New Year!
as a Canadian reader, I have collected OUTLAW and HOLY WARRIOR in the North American hardcovers. I had no idea that buying these editions undermines your profits…
I could always place an order for KING’S MAN and WARLORD (when the time comes) from Amazon.co.uk instead of here in Canada. I would also have the pleasure of reading the books sooner that way LOL…
But if we all do that, would that make your North American sales look diminished, or does Amazon report to your publisher on how many volumes ship overseas?
In other words, I would be willing to wait and place my order when the book is released in Canada if your overseas sales figures are important to you or I would pass on the wait and order across the pond if that puts more money in your pocket…
You are the writer, and your wish is my command LOL (No hard sell for you here; I will buy them either way!)
I think I order Warlord on Amazon.co.uk It seems like it is better for ya to buy your books in UK :)
And of course, congratulations on your next baby :) It would be great to hear some fantastic news about him when he comes to this world :) I shall keep my fingers crossed for you and your wife.
Best wishes,
E.
Hi guys,
Some of you are very sweetly concerned about where to buy my books to give me maximum profit – please don’t be! Don’t worry about that side of things at all. The most important thing is that you are buying the books, and enjoying them. I take the view that it doesn’t really matter where in the world you buy the books: I’m in this for the long-haul and I’m trying to build a global reputation as a writer, so whether my books are bought in Brazil or Belgium, it doesn’t matter, it all goes to improve my total worldwide sales. Just buy the books in the most convenient and cheapest way for you. If you want to help me, tell your friends about the series. But most of all, carry on enjoying the adventures of Robin and Alan!
I think that Feb 15th is the perfect day for a baby to be born, my Mom certainly thought so. I am so happy for you Angus and your lovely wife and your daughter soon to be big sister. I hope 2012 will be a banner year for all your endeavors!
Thank you Jerelyn! Same to you, A
Angus – I know that you must be going in all directions right now, especially with your “new addition” soon to arrive, but I wanted to let you know that I have placed my PRE-ORDER for Warlord at The Book Depository!!! I am so excited and I am so happy that I’ve got this book just waiting in the wings for me.
Jeanne
